THAT NIGHT OF MAGIC

Of all that I've ever seen,
I know I haven't seen anything,
of all I've ever done,
I haven't even begun.

Of all I thought I knew,
I really have learned from you,
that I wasn't even close,
to knowing anything.

Of all the dreams I've ever had,
and all the stories I've ever read,
and all the things I've ever said,
I feel as if I'm only starting.

Life seems to have come again,
every day seems like the first,
a new smile, a new feeling,
a lightness in my step.

Wonder of wonders,
what you have done,
you came into my life,
and the sun shines brighter.

Alert and alive,
excited about tomorrows,
like spring fever every day,
like the blossoms in May.

How could this come about,
what has happened here,
it seemed one night I signed on,
and opened a door that wasn't there.

And yet, what has changed,
as I look around me,
only things on the inside,
where they can't be seen...
