GOD TOLD ME SO

Most of us play the lotteries,
what a game of chance,
though the odds be millions against,
they seem successful, at last glance.

Your day is lucky,
your numbers finally come in,
you've won 25 million,
bet you can't do it again.

There comes that day,
6 months down the line,
this win is 87 million,
all seems so grand and fine.

But, people being as they are,
many eyebrows and questions arise,
how could one be so lucky?,
How could one be so wise?

Then, you've guessed it right,
it's 6 months to the day,
another win, this one is 50 million,
what do you think they'll all say?

I believe that none would believe,
that one could be so lucky,
they'd bring you in for questioing,
they'd investigate your story.

For when they ask you how,
how could you guess or know,
would they believe your answer,
when you say, "God told me so."

What do you think their response?
What do you expect their reaction?
For, the real test is now to happen,
the true test of faith will begin.

Would they give you the money?
Would they allow you to play again?
For, in a few months to follow,
you win another 27 million.

Would anyone believe,
that God once again told you so?
The winning numbers, 4 times,
would all the believers let it go?

If you think believers would believe,
or they would not have doubt,
that God gave you the numbers,
we'd learn what faith was all about.

They'd all say you cheat,
they'd all say that you lie,
for no one could ever figure,
or find a reason, how or why.

Can you imagine the news,
can you imagine the stories,
can you imagine all the praying,
all the saints and all the glories.

For, you see my friends,
when push comes to shove,
no one would believe,
the numbers came from above.

God, the real test given,
would fail, big time,
but, of course, all of this,
is but an opinion of mine.
