FOR A FRIEND
Born to a cold world,
everyone trying to impress,
no one knows what to do,
at the core, it's a real mess.People pretending they don't care,
but they are so fearful inside,
running around acting so cool,
the REAL person, they always hide.To be alive, to live a life,
it is a search, for a friend,
someone who you can really trust,
each day until the end.Everyone searching for the same thing,
a warm hand that is honest and true,
not much else really matters,
there is not much else in life to do.Through the time of living,
we discover hurt and pain,
and so many are so afraid,
to ever believe, or trust again. To connect with that friend,
the one who makes you smile,
means you will have to be,
a little braver for awhile. For you'll need to reach out,
and allow the magic of touch,
you'll have to open the door,
you owe yourself that much. For a friend to find,
for a friend to be,
for a friend will be,
what sets you free.It is why we're here,
but, so many, are so afraid,
the fear of being known,
after all the dues have been paid. For a friend, you'll need to trust,
for a friend, you'll need to try,
for a friend, you'll need to believe,
for a friend, you may need to cry.Why can't people be honest,
why can't people be real,
why can't people just say,
what it is that they feel? Why do people pretend,
that they really care,
for they hurt so much inside,
and they are afraid to share. We must be open, we must not fear,
we must reach out for a friend,
we must use the energy of life,
we must keep trying until the end.For a friend, for the reason of life,
it is what nature has in store,
for a friend, and when you find one,
you'll won't need to be alone any more.
