CLINGERS' DUES

In a world where everything matters,
and you cling so tight to each thing,
worrying about things beyond your control,
so anxious for what each moment will bring.

In a world where people come and go,
like the seasons we see each year,
yet so controlled by clinging so tight,
and each change brings so much fear.

In a world that is fine as it is,
it is what we all need to learn,
some is easy and some is not,
fire is hot and hot will burn.

It is all interconnected,
it all happens for a reason,
but it differs each time around,
as do our hot and our cold season.

There is nothing we can do,
though we can go crazy with trying,
for each thing will cost a price,
there will always be pain and crying.

The clingers' dues that you pay,
for the strings you grip so tight,
all the energy and all the ambition,
gets zapped and is removed from sight.

There is nothing to be done,
there is nothing you can change,
ours is but to enjoy the moment,
don't think to live is being strange.

Each goes his way, a path of our own,
with priorities we each can choose,
we can go forward, or stay stuck here,
we can go and win, or stay and lose.

Clingers' dues are quite expensive,
as so many just can't let go,
most can't trust and believe nature,
could I be the ONLY to know?
