IT'S QUITE SAD

It's quite sad to learn,
that the friend you said you were,
was not a valid concern.

It's quite sad to know,
that you weren't really sincere,
now the truth does show.

It's quite sad to think,
that you didn't believe me,
how the trust did shrink.

It's quite sad to realize,
how you filled my days,
with your fun and lies.

And now we don't talk,
we are strangers once more,
and things will never be,
as they were before.

I offered all I had to you,
I gave and loved as a friend,
you said and sent so many smiles,
telling of friends till the end.

And now there is but emptiness,
where your mail used to be,
you don't write or answer any more,
all is such a mystery.

It's quite sad to wonder why,
it could all turn to this,
I'll continue onward with a sigh.

It's quite sad to imagine how,
all the sweet turned to sour,
as I write this to you now.

Silly people, silly days,
fear of what matters most,
so quick to run, so quick to hide,
a cloudy day on the coast.

I read through the lines,
maybe touched a nerve,
trying to be a friend.

We talked at great depths,
about hopes, dreams and smiles,
about saving the earth and the sky.

You're out there in pain,
afraid to connect,
but the clouds are clearing,
it's sunshine on the coast.
