LIVING ON A ONE WAY STREET
Loves loved, loves lost,
always a new one to meet,
friendships ended because of mistrust,
living on a one way street. You expect to be believed,
but are not willing inside,
to believe one that you called friend,
and you turn away and hide. When the things you say you'll do,
never have time to complete,
you're always busy with something else,
living on a one way street. You expect you'll be trusted,
but can't do the same,
yet you expect we'll be friends,
perhaps, only in name. When you can't drop a note,
to say you had no time,
and you don't respond to your mail,
how can you be a friend of mine?A friend should want to help,
and take an interest for real,
and be sincere in what they say,
and care how someone will feel.Words are just thrown about,
no feelings and no shame,
a friend of all you know,
as it is all a silly game.Living on a one way street,
where you only want to receive,
and aren't sincere in what you say,
like a true artist, you deceive.Friends come and friends will go,
as the truth is finally known,
perhaps you'll find some more like you,
each with a game of his own.It is a sad state of life we have,
when to lie, hurt and cheat,
become expected and accepted,
living on a one way street.
