WHEN YOU'RE CONVINCED

When you're convinced,
that happiness can't ever be,
that there's no good to see,
that you're going to live in misery,
guess what?

When you're convinced,
that everyone is out to hurt you,
that there is nothing that you can do,
that there is no one you can turn to,
guess what?

When you're convinced,
that you can't trust or believe,
that everyone will try to deceive,
that pain is what you must receive,
guess what?

If you have allowed yourself,
to be convinced of other than good,
if you have fed and fed these things,
to grow, yet not understood,
if these have become you,
though you knew they never should,
if you meant to change things,
but knew you never could,
if you now fear life,
and pray for some good.

When you're convinced,
that things were just meant to be,
that you can never, ever be free,
that you must give up so easily.

When you're convinced,
that you may as well not even try,
that there is no reason to wonder why,
that all the good things will pass you by.

When you're convinced,
you were just put here to lose,
that you will never win or choose,
that living is only the blues,
it's time to put an end.

You now have Ed in your life,
who won't allow you to feel sad,
who will try with all his might,
to change your view away from bad.

You know have Ed on your side,
offering a smile and a hand,
to be here whenever you need,
who will listen and understand.
