I'M NOT AS DUMB AS YOU LOOK

Even though I didn't show,
a response to what you took,
I've got it all under cover,
for, I'm not as dumb as you look.

I don't know what makes you think,
you can break every rule in the book,
you've picked on the wrong one this time,
I'm not as dumb as you look.

Nature has a way of evening the score,
against all who hurt others with lies,
soon the day will be right here,
too late for stories and alibis.

You didn't have the sense to know,
you stick out like a thief and a crook,
but for once you will see,
I'm not as dumb as you look.

Now everyone will be alert,
I've warned the entire mishpuk,
they will all keep their eyes on you,
we're not as dumb as you look.

For all those who you have hurt,
for the ability and confidence you shook,
for the innocent yet to come,
you see, I'm not as dumb as you look.

Whatever made you think,
that no one could sense and see,
though the reason I don't know,
it has made me so happy.

You see, good things happen,
as it says in the book,
that nature redeems,
we're not as dumb as you look.

Even though you never fell,
while stepping on stones in the brook,
you took one step too far,
I'm not as dumb as you look.

For once, so long ago,
when a truth was mistook,
when confusion did rule,
but, not as dumb as you look.

You'll slip and fall in the alley,
covered with slime and smelly gook,
perhaps then you will know,
we're not as dumb as you look.
