JUST LIKE KIDS

Whether you've found happiness,
or struggle through each day,
it is a choice that you have made,
by the thoughts you've attached to,
by following what others say.

When I think of work,
I think of the railroad,
digging ditches,
or making a canal,
carrying coal by the load.

When people speak of "work,"
a negative image is portrayed,
children pick up on the feeling,
the negative seed is planted,
and the groundwork is laid.

This image creates a mood,
that may last through life,
the mention or thought of work,
will trigger these emotions,
and cause much pain and strife.

Just like kids,
who always want to play,
we must come to realize,
that as adults,
we're really the very same way.

We're grown up kids,
and know to play is fun,
if we can return to that feeling,
and find enjoyment each day,
you'll see that REAL living has begun.

Another word that brings pain to mind,
when one wishes to lose weight,
speaks or thinks of "diet,"
nasty thoughts of hunger,
and a near empty plate.

Just like kids,
who wish to first eat dessert,
now the time has come to you,
when you can be like a kid,
be like a kid, it won't hurt.

You think of diet,
I think of fun,
as I eat my chocolate chip cookie,
so yummy and so filling,
like a kid I can run.

Just like kids,
dessert and playing,
thoughts make the difference,
it's what we all need to do,
doing rather than saying.

I hear people speak of work,
I hear people speak of diets,
I hear people sound so negative,
when facing their closet,
and nothing really fits.

People put off what they need,
for the image in their head,
that diet is pain,
and they could just eat,
oatmeal raisin cookies instead.

Work, the word sends thoughts,
such as house work,
such as yard work,
such as home work,
you need to learn to play,
as life was intended to be.

I eat my desert first,
I am the biggest kid,
I never eat the meal that follows,
as my desert fills me good,
just thought I'd let you know.
