MILESTONES

How many targets can you hit,
as you pave your path through life,
of all you've wanted most to do,
how many will you ever realize?

Of all the books you've meant to read,
how many have you really read,
of all those recipes you've clipped,
how many have you ever cooked?

Of all the places you'd love to see,
how many have you visited,
of all the "we'll HAVE to get together"
how often does it ever come true?

Birthdays come and birthdays go,
all the milestones of a life,
we speed our way through our days,
racing at a very frantic pace.

So much of what we'd like to do,
we will never get the chance,
there is that only life, here and now,
and only you can really decide.

Things thought, said, done and dreamt,
are all that makes you what you are,
somewhere in the maze of our minds,
lies the true direction we should take.

We're all here for one another,
we're all here to lend a helping hand,
we're all here to love and to listen,
we're all here to smile and understand.
