PERSON OF THE CENTURY
 

I heard they picked someone,
as man of the century,
I believe it was Albert Einstein,
a WONDERFUL man he was.

Should this person be someone,
who teaches us about our world,
or should it really have been one,
who taught us about ourselves?

I picked a rather simple man,
a man who just lived his life,
and gave to each and every one,
a VERY powerful sense of it all.

This land is your land,
this land is my land,
it is no other than Woody Guthrie,
who I pick as person of the century.

The thoughts of the song,
fill you with such energy,
fill you with such pride,
fill you with the love he had.

The world that was Woody,
to see life as he saw,
to turn it into words like those,
it is my person of the century.
