PUT YOUR EYES AWAY

Put your eyes away,
when I come walking by,
I don't know what else to say,
I can feel your eyes as I walk away.

Put your eyes away,
when I come into view,
for I feel uneasy,
when you look at me that way.

Put your eyes away,
I'm not sure that you know,
that I don't like being followed,
by your eyes as I go.

I have no intentions,
of putting out your fire,
and I am surely not,
for sale or for hire.

Put your eyes away,
when you see me coming,
for I can see that trace,
of satisfaction upon your face.

But, you see,
you just don't understand,
it's my job,
I don't do it by plan.

You see, I must see,
if you are wearing your badge,
so my eyes must roam over you,
it's the only way I can do.

You may think,
I want an eyeful of you,
but I must search for your badge,
I do it all day through.

I would much rather,
not need to see,
but I must look at you,
and not to satisfy me.

I visually search,
all bodies that come near,
I have expert eyes,
there is nothing to fear.

And of course I watch,
as you walk away,
to be sure you don't slip or fall,
I am a gentleman after all.

I must look closely,
to be certain it's you,
comparing the picture,
to be sure it is true.
