WHILE I WASN'T WATCHING
While I wasn't watching,
the whole world changed,
millions and millions were born,
millions were raised and schooled,
millions were educated and trained,
today, they are the working force,
on this planet where I live.While I wasn't watching,
all about me has changed,
I'm no longer that youngster,
with a head filled with wonder,
I'm far, far beyond,
stages of puppy love,
the first dances and kisses,
I'm no longer a kid,
on this planet where I live.Time, time has flown away,
taking with it, so many dreams,
so many hopes and plans,
so much has gotten away,
while I wasn't watching.Today, I watch the new wave,
the fresh, young dreamers,
the brand new achievers,
the ones with education,
the bouncing, excitement of their youth,
where I was a short time ago,
while I first began,
living, and not watching.Life was all swept up,
filled with the survival,
filled with the activity,
filled with the working days,
filled with the working nights,
filled with things,
that have added up to my life. While I wasn't watching,
so many, many have progressed,
so many, many have accomplished,
so many, many have fulfilled,
so many, many have established,
on this planet where I live. The new challenge is now before me,
to pick up and re-establish my place,
to once again feel the wonder,
to piece back together those dreams,
to again feel those hopes,
to once again be watching,
on this planet where I live.I have the reflections of my time,
I have the images of where I was,
I have the memories of what I wanted,
I have the map of where I was,
I have the thoughts of who I am,
I have the faith in who I can be,
I have the trust of where I can go,
I have the desire to accomplish,
I have this time decided,
to be, and to make myself known,
on this planet where I live.
