DISTANT EMOTIONS

Long, long ago,
far away from here,
a new beginning was born,
it was a very special year.

Early years of wonder,
with happiness and joy,
a wonderful young life,
for a certain little boy.

The boy grew so quickly,
no one knows where the time went,
the boy, little no longer,
found that happiness had all been spent.

Now surrounded by questions,
so many negative things said,
so many nights of quiet wonder,
from the safety of his bed.

What had happened to happy,
he for sure didn't know,
it changed things so completely,
but he wouldn't let it show.

The things the boy has learned,
things that no one could teach,
it struck such distant emotions,
much too far to reach.

The world today remains,
full of wonder as before,
the child, now a grown man,
still keeping track of the score.

Those distant emotions,
they have yet to be found,
only hints of their existence,
but, far beyond sight or sound.

Those emotions hold the key,
the man knows so well,
for all that has ever been known,
to be as clear as a bell.

The man in a world alone,
no one able to understand,
the meaning of those emotions,
as many feelings as the grains of sand.

Though things may seem a challenge,
being on the outside looking in,
for everything is going as planned,
a wonderful life it has been.

Knowing the now as we do,
brings this to mind,
it is always now you see,
and yet, now is new, we find.

All there is in life,
falls into this same meaning,
as all things have two sides,
all we're doing, is just being.
