CAN IT MATTER?

A time before the beginning,
forever and ever without end,
a something from a nothing,
can the human mind comprehend?

Neither religion or science knows,
for certain which thought is true,
yet many believe that almighty power,
is always present and watching you.

We know throughout it all,
all things somehow connect,
nothing is outside this equation,
it's a truth that time has set.

Yet, the main question remains,
can it matter, this game we play,
for if one small thing is answered yes,
and all is connected we say.

However, if one small thing,
is too small to matter,
it defines the entire thing,
for the truth won't falter.

Life can't be lived,
with only some important things,
for it is all connected and now,
what sort of answer this brings?

Things that seem important now,
tomorrow will be gone and forgotten,
a whole new thing will have replaced,
it will seem as if it's always been.

Can it matter, the things we cling to,
can it matter beyond this day?
Can it matter the least little bit,
when in time, it's all gone away?
