WE SIT IN SILENCE

We sit in silence,
as the time ticks by,
lost in our own worlds,
perhaps both, wondering why.

Many wish they had someone,
others wish that they'd be free,
but they pay the price together,
sitting silently with their misery.

We sit in silence,
each mind in a different sphere,
not really even being aware,
that the other is even here.

A world full of people,
really so far apart,
it is the stress of living,
that brings pain to a heart.

Quality time is almost unknown,
as each day is a fight to gain,
to keep up with earning,
suffering and living the pain.

Love is now a distant thing,
not too much discussed,
going on with the duty of life,
each moment stressed and rushed.

We sit in silence,
allowing time to waste away,
allowing the stress of living,
to control the price we pay.

Nothing much to talk about,
that won't end in a fight,
it seems always a battle,
in the end, who is right ?

We sit in silence,
thoughts in our mind,
is there an answer,
we're hoping to find?

Days slip away,
weeks into years,
people stay together,
through pain and silent tears.

Most of the stress,
is related to money,
and a deep pile of debt,
that's not even funny.

Yet, they go along,
in their own separate heads,
yet, they could work together,
they might be happy instead.

When you sit in silence,
and nothing is said,
the future is already,
quite obvious, quite dead.

Many sit alone, and wish,
there was someone to share,
many sit together and wonder,
if, deep down, they really still care.
