THE LONG, HARD WAY
 

The only way to know yourself,
is through much time alone,
you won't find yourself by watching TV,
or by talking on the telephone.

The long, hard way,
is the sure fire route,
to give you the answers,
of what life is all about.

Don't look for shortcuts,
or easy ways around,
for in the end, you'll miss the chance,
to touch realism, and love abound.

In times you spend alone,
rather than pray or pout,
get in touch with you,
learn what you are all about.

Don't let the time be wasted,
you won't find yourself at a movie,
or by looking at old photos,
or by drinking or eating.

You won't find yourself,
if you're always sleeping,
or if you are sad or weeping.

You won't find yourself,
in a church or in prayer,
for the you that you seek,
is the YOU that is deep inside there.

Through this quiet time alone,
this you will be revealed,
it begin to seep through,
one layer at a time.

Learn all about yourself,
treasure the moments you have,
to nothing to try or to make happen,
let the YOU just feel free to come out.

The long, hard route through life,
lets you learn about yourself,
this is the most valuable thing,
you will ever want to know.

For, if you go through life,
and gain riches and fame,
if you haven't discovered who you are,
your life has been in vain.

Material things are wonderful,
but not nearly the value of SELF,
for that discovery is the REAL reason,
that brings happiness, through and through.

You can leave your material behind,
leave it to who you will,
but, if you haven't shared love of life,
they will feel quite empty still.

You can't pass on what you don't have,
but if you take the long, hard way through,
life will be truly introduced,
and the winner will be YOU !!!
