OBSERVATIONS ABOARD
The knife and the spoon,
there's bread in the room,
a pot of stew on the stove. The hammering upstairs,
the girl is going out,
a brand new dress she wears. The kettle starts to boil,
rice frying in hot oil,
another night at home.Cartoons playing loud,
some voice in the crowd,
gives thanks for the food.No minors allowed,
so the sign reads,
all the world knows better. The stew is served hot,
all are ready and waiting,
but the girl in the dress,
I wonder who she is dating?Things go just fine,
bread, cheese and wine,
the rice is for tomorrow. Some sit and eat,
some have cold feet,
some cry in their sorrow. What's right is OK,
that's what they say,
no time for the news. Some eat each day,
some hide and pray,
some have holes in their shoes. The girl comes home,
goes to her room,
she is sad and crying,
she's tired of life,
she's tired of lies,
she's tired of trying. The hammering ends,
music can be heard,
a faint song of love.Night time has come,
all is relaxed,
even the neighbors above.Life has its days,
people have their ways,
of making the best of it all.Things work out fine,
tomorrow the sunshine,
the girl is smiling again.
