YOUR WORD

If you gave your word,
and didn't come through,
just what do you think,
that you should do?

Could you be honest,
and talk heart to heart,
and tell what happened,
why your word fell apart?

Who hurts, when you don't keep your word,
We both know the real answer to that,
for you feel a twinge in your heart,
in the mirror, your eyes can't look back.

Who NEEDS your word to be true,
the same who hurts so much,
without it you can't believe yourself,
no one will believe you too much.

Is it important to mean what you say,
and to act on it as you should,
and always say what you mean,
so you won't be misunderstood.

Your word is your bond,
use it and be sincere,
don't raise peoples hopes and lie,
and then, run and hide in fear.

When you are called on the word you gave,
what do you generally do.
do you email back right away,
or hope they will forget about you?

Doesn't your word matter to you,
don't you want to be believed,
does it ever bother you at all,
all of those you've deceived?

How do you feel at the end of the day,
when it's quiet and you are there,
do you sometimes just sit real still,
at the window, with a blank stare?

What is your life about,
to pretend all day through,
to have a image of a nice person,
and you sit and lie to you, too.
