IN YOUR PERFECT WORLD
 

In your perfect world,
all is giggles and smiles,
no reason to listen to anyone,
you can see happiness for miles.

Where each day begins with a smile,
and each night ends with a kiss,
there is never a negative thought,
and forever will be like this.

Where all remains forever happy,
and love remains strong and true,
never a fight and never a tear,
and all your dreams come true.

I wish it for you my friend,
I really honestly do,
I hope you never become,
like others who felt like that too.

The numbers and the odds say other,
as a walk down your street will tell,
see how many are hurt and needy,
go ahead, walk up and ring their bell.

See for yourself the reality that is,
how many struggle and suffer,
see how many get beat each night,
see what has happened to others.

Hear all the yells and threats,
hear all the crying and screams,
go ahead and ask them true,
about what happened to their dreams.

See how many single mothers you find,
who get no help or money,
ask them when last they thought,
life was perfect and sunny.

Take a close look at their children too,
tell me your thoughts of their future,
when it is the sole priority,
just to clothe, pay rent and nurture.

So, live in your perfect world.
and ignore all I say,
I guess if it all turns sour,
you'll always find a way.

I hope you don't find yourself alone,
with young mouths to feed,
I hope you don't need two jobs,
just to have what you need.

I hope your life doesn't become,
the same as so many around,
I hope it is the real thing,
the love and happiness you've found.

I only ask you don't rely too much,
prepare yourself in case,
because I hear all too often,
people disappear without a trace.

I am here if you need me,
though you are sure there is no need,
I sure hope you never do,
but, I will be here regardless, indeed.
