YES, BUT UNTIL THEN

The world so vast,
problems so many,
it seems without end,
how can we ever fix it all,
surely time will run out,
Yes, but until then?

How far CAN we get,
what progress CAN be made,
how many CAN we touch,
what good CAN we do,
Until then !

We are here,
you and I,
both aware of the need,
but we differ,
you and I,
like the rose and the weed.

For I see hope,
you feel doubt,
I know love,
you do without,
I know nature,
you feel fear,
I love living,
you know tears.

Things will get worse,
as nobody cares,
abuse and greed all around,
it would be so easy,
to do as most,
and hang at the tavern
and drink a toast.

I find the value,
in time that is here,
and want to waste none,
for I know,
so deep in my being,
that, UNTIL THEN,
there are battles to be won.

You will never be,
the same as I,
and I can't make you believe,
for if I feel life is good,
and I feel love for all,
you feel I'm trying to deceive.

So what is hot,
and what is cold,
depends on the nerve we expose,
so who is right,
and whom to believe,
depends on within, I suppose.

Until then,
I can do,
all that I can reach,
perhaps I will find,
one, just one,
to whom I can tech.

To care, to care,
to not give up,
to feel power inside,
to feel positive,
when all is against,
to BE, live with some pride.

To know there is one,
who will smile to know,
that they are loved by me,
makes all the time,
makes all the effort,
well worth the fee.

Until then,
I shall give,
all that I know how,
Until then,
I shall show,
that I really am here, and NOW!
