THE ROAD

I saw the road today,
it's as old as time,
you'd think it would be all worn out,
yet it looks as good as new.

The road of course is the way out,
the road that leads from the woods,
the road that takes you from clutter,
to your life of happiness awaiting.

Everyone KNOWS what to do,
yet almost no one ever does,
everyone KNOWS it is easy,
yet most are afraid to even try.

The road looks as if it hasn't been used,
who knows, perhaps it will last forever,
it doesn't seem many have the real desire,
to pay the price of the entry.

It is sad that people are given life,
given everything they could ever need,
but they get some block in their mind,
all the wrong things nailed to the walls.

It is sad people don't care enough of themselves,
and the one chance they have to live,
to even venture out and give it a chance,
only sit and wait to be carried away.

People prejudge others,
people prejudge themselves,
for they are giving answers,
without even a vague thought.

People are glued to that image,
or what was them yesterday,
that belief keeps them frozen,
until they are buried away.

Why is that everyone KNOWS,
yet everyone doubts and mistrusts,
and hides behind their doorways,
and throws their pennies away?

So many pretend to be real,
afraid to speak what they feel,
then blame the world for being,
unfair and causing them hurt?

I saw the road today,
not a soul to be seen,
I could lie and take a nap,
and never see a foot pass by.

The road to end clutter,
begins with a step from within,
for a person will never be free,
until a person says I want to be free,
and THEN DOES AS HE SAYS!
