WHY DO WE GRIEVE?

Each one of us will see it end,
each life shall expire some day,
there are no rules you can bend,
no special prayer you can say.

For those who have religion and HIS word,
and with their hearts and souls believe,
and if heaven is what I've heard,
Why do we grieve?

If we show our love each day,
with much more action than word,
if you always find time to pray,
then to grieve seems absurd.

It seems so strange to be in sorrow,
when someones life comes to a close,
for you may be together in Heaven tomorrow,
for who is next, no one ever knows.

I look around and see people crying,
for a loved one who has died,
I wonder if they've been lying,
about how they feel deep inside?

Those with religion ought to know,
that they'll be joined once more,
but, if you don't really believe,
what do you practice religion for?

The ones that ought to grieve,
are the ones who are like me,
who really don't believe,
in anything that I can't see.

But I live in the HERE and NOW,
and value each moment that I get,
I accept life and know how,
to continue without guilt or regret.

We each have lived our days,
with curiosity of that tomorrow,
when sleep comes and stays,
we should feel joy, not sorrow.

Who are you grieving when you cry,
the one who is gone can't hear,
seems your tears can't answer why,
or take away your doubt or fear.
