IT'S SO EASY

It's so easy to pretend,
that all is well and fine,
it's so easy to hide,
all the pain you feel inside.

It's so easy to close your eyes and ears,
to all you don't want to face,
it's so easy to smile and say,
I am just fine today.

Then alone at night,
when we are all alone,
we think of all we've said,
and sort of wish we were dead.

We can't fool ourself within,
we can't hide from our mind,
we must face our own fears,
we must wipe our own tears.

It's so easy to go through life,
with a whistle and a smile,
wearing the mask for all to see,
never letting your real self free.

But each night we pay the price,
peeling off the disguise,
feeling worse all the time,
we are committing a SELF crime.

The time melts away,
we get deeper into our game,
we keep trying to come to term,
we just never seem to learn.

So we continue to run and hide,
we continue to cry inside,
we continue our emotional slide,
we have lost our self pride.

What will life come to be,
how long must the game go on,
why can't we stop today,
from the silly game we play?

And we know that win or lose,
time is slipping away,
no matter which way we choose,
it will all end some day.
