HE WALKS AMONGST US

People wrapped in nervousness,
people wrapped in pain,
people rushing here and there,
people hurting to gain,

people wrapped in nothingness,
people wrapped in fear,
people wrapped in sending prayers,
wouldn't know if HE was here.

Would HE carry a bible,
would HE wear a name tag,
would HE have a long, white beard,
would HE have a shopping bag?

People wrapped in accusations,
people wrapped in petty things,
people wrapped in false security,
hiding when the phone rings,

People wrapped so deep in worry,
people wrapped in silent woe,
people pretending to be happy,
so how would they ever know?

Was HE walking behind you,
down the street today,
was HE in the elevator,
what did HE hear you say?

People wrapped in self denial,
people wrapped in a plastic time,
people so involved in escape,
they don't see the stars that shine.

HE walks amongst us,
each day of the year,
HE is always out there,
HE is always near,

Would you easily recognize HIM,
would he stand out in a crowd,
would there be guards around HIM,
would approaching be allowed?

While you are busy looking up THERE,
HE is really here amongst us,
HE is everywhere you ever go,
but HE never causes a fuss.

Did HE talk to you yesterday,
was HE in the car next to you,
did HE catch your eye in the market,
was HE that one in blue?

Is your mind too cluttered to be aware,
of just WHO could be close at hand,
or would you NEVER believe,
or maybe you don't understand.
