MEMORIAL MEMORIES

Memories of holding hands,
long before those distant lands,
and loves sweet embrace,
it was such a wonderful place.

Memories of dreams never to be,
and the kisses so tenderly,
all to help keep our homeland free,
we can be proud and speak openly.

Memories of a childhood past,
memories of the day, the last,
when the ultimate price was paid,
and today, so may flowers are laid.

Today, we pause and stop to reflect,
those who paid we won't soon forget,
those young, in love and dreams of their own,
the years are many and the memories have grown.

Tis a shame that so many today,
have no idea of what we observe,
all they know is no work, no school,
and a race and some beer.

The years will go slowly by,
the memory of Memorial will answer why,
but the numbers who understand,
is growing smaller in our homeland.

For each of us who knows all too well,
the prices paid and the bodies that fell,
we owe it to THEM to keep alive,
their PRIDE, their MEMORY, and the tears that have been cried.
