EACH OF US KNOWS

Each of us knows,
the real score inside,
each of us knows,
which part that we hide.

From many hours alone,
from many walks in the park,
from the mirrors to those pangs,
we know how we feel in the dark.

Each of us knows,
which hurts most to think,
not many can deal with it,
so many just eat and drink.

Each of us knows,
the games we play each day,
the smiles and the masks,
part of the roles that we play.

Each of us feels,
deep within our mind,
where we REALLY stand,
and what truth you can find.

So many pretend,
to be control of their life,
but so many horrors are lived,
so many go on in strife.

Each of us knows,
where we'd like to be,
each of us knows,
the price it is to be free.

Most are so afraid of change,
that they stay in their rut,
so many fear the unknown,
they'd prefer having windows shut.

With so many smiles we see,
not many are what they seem,
most go home each night,
not much sleep or dream.

Worry is the root,
caused by the game they play,
pretend all their lives,
until their dying day.

Each of us knows,
but most can't be honest and true,
even within their own minds,
it is what so many just do.

So many tell me,
they understand and can relate,
to the words I say and write,
I smile as I stand at the gate,
for the truth be,
most haven't a real clue,
as to what I am about,
I talk, write and shout,
all the while knowing,
it is probably much too late.

Each of us knows,
the strength of our inner light,
as it is the happiness we feel,
it is the peace we feel at night.

Each of us knows,
if we are being true to our SELF,
each feels the pangs and hurt,
when we sit and digest the truth.
